ExtraVerse is always looking for high quality submissions of poetry, prose, fiction and images. There are no set themes, so it's easier to say what we don't want than what we do. We don't accept work that promotes hatred in any form, nor gratuitous violence, nor do we accept pornography. This doesn't mean, however, that sexual themes are unacceptable; the best guideline here is that any sex or violence should be integral to the plot or point of the work, fresh and non-clichéd. We are unlikely to accept formal, rhyming poetry except for special features, or where there is a specific reason for selecting a formal structure.

Other than that, pretty much anything goes, providing it is well written or executed.  Probably the best way to get a handle on what we publish is to browse this edition.

Please submit text work either in the body of an email or attached in .txt, .rtf or Word document format. In general we prefer to do the HTML of the 'zine here, unless the piece is dynamic or interactive like this -- in that case, please submit as .html. Image files should be in .jpg or .gif format and attached to an email.  Please, always mention in the body of the mail that there is an attachment -- we won't open any attachments that aren't specifically referred to.

Finally, you need to know is that ExtraVerse doesn't pay cash money for work -- it's not that we don't want to, it's simply that we don't have any income generation streams. Since the Editor keeps a second-hand bookshop, however, payment in kind is available to authors who would like to expand their library, and can be discussed on acceptance of work.  The copyright of all work remains with the author and we welcome simultaneous submissions, providing you tell us about them. If the work has been published previously, please state when and where in your submission.

All submissions will be responded to, although this may take a few weeks, and if we don't accept the work we will always give you a reason why.

If you have work to submit, please send to submissions@extraverse.org.
